5 Today!

During the week, my goddaughter turned 5! Goodness, can't believe she is that old already. How time flies when you are busy!!

I made this card for her birthday, and amazingly posted it on time! (woohoo, I'm slowly getting organised ;-)  )

I used a cream card folded to A5 (148.5mm x 210mm). I cut a pink sheet about 20mm shorter both sides, and embossed with my happy birthday folder.

I cut out '5' from beautiful glittery foam, and stuck it onto some glittery paper. (The photos don't allow for the glitter to show :( !!  )
I used two dies to cut out the cerise pink border around the '5'. I had no letters or stamps small enough, so I wrote with a silver pen 'today', and of course couldn't resist two hearts!

I've been trying to find a die for bunting, but been having no joy lately! So I made my own, from washi tape. I have done this a few times before, and with my lovely collection of polka dotted washi tape, they work well together.  I attached the washi tape to some wire and put two brads into the card to thread the wire to. I have some Kaisercraft Mini Alpha Stickers, which I used to create 'happy' for the bunting.
I used an outline 'birthday' sticker for the finish.

I love the jovial, party feel the card gives. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day :)

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Celebrate  (29/7/13)
My Creative Moments - Wordplay Birthday  (8/8/13)
Bloggers Challenge - They Say it's your Birthday
Creative Fingers Challenge - Anything Goes (1/8/13)

Why not try a challenge or two?

TTPHC - Anything with Flowers

Hello.  This week over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges the new challenge is "Anything with Flowers". This week there is an anonymous sponsor with a surprise prize!
Here is my card for the challenge:

Using two die cuts, I inked the edges with two different ink colours. I have been waiting to use these cute little lilac tags, so I decorated it with a flower and embellishment and some lovely silver tassel.

The pink flower backing paper originally started out as a plain sheet of paper. I used some bright pink ink to stamp the flowers. The pink paper I tore to size.

For the 'banners' I cut some washi tape, that was a very kind present from my sister ;-)

Thank you for stopping by! Hope you are having a great day.

Purple Butterflies

Hello :)
Hope you are having a lovely summer. Here in Ireland we are officially in a drought! It is so hard to believe considering we haven't really had a summer for 4-5 years!
This week over at Eclectic Ellapu the challenge is Shades of Purple with main focus on butterflies.

This is the card I made for this week.

I used some beautiful printed vellum for the piece on the left, and tore some spotty paper for the bottom. Using washi tape I cut it to look like a banner, and then used a paper flower and button for the embellishment. I stuck a butterfly mirror embellishment on the flower also.

With a white cut out circle I stamped some beautiful butterflies, from the Indigo Blu Live Love laugh stamp range, and stuck it onto a pre cut scalloped circle, I previously cut with my cricut.
I used another paper flower and flower embellishment for the side detail.

Another close up -

Why not give this challenge a go? Hope you are having a great day, thanks for stopping by.

Indigo Blu Challenge

Hello everyone,
Hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather. Here in Ireland we are having the hottest summer in a LONG time! Most days the temperature is way up near 30˙C. Don't think I'm cut out for this heat!

As mentioned in my previous post, I am thrilled to be part of the Design Team for the new challenge blog set up Through the Purple Haze Challenges. This week the first challenge is sponsored by Indigo Blu.

Here is my project using the beautiful Indigo Blu Live Laugh Love stamp range.

Here is the card I made:

From the beginning, I had awful trouble making this card - I just couldn't choose which stamp to use!! ;-) There are so many beautiful designs, and two lovely sentiments. The bird, dragonfly, butterflies and flowers are so detailed, it looks like a perfectly drawn image each time, rather than a stamped image. I am so impressed with the quality.
The detail in the butterflies can't truly be seen in the first photo, so here is a close up:

And the ornate border? Right up my street!! I love the regal look the border gives to this card.

To make this card, here are the list of "ingredients"
- Indigo Blu Live Laugh Love Stamps
- Brown and gold ink pads
- Cream board cut to 200mm x 138.5mm
- Brown board 297mm x 210mm, folded in half to measure 148.5mm x 210mm
- two strips of tan (25mm x 200mm) and brown (33mm x 200mm) coloured paper
- Cream circle (diameter 82mm)
- Sizzix Scalloped circle die cut onto brown card (or any similar sized die)

Instructions:
1)  Stick cream board onto the centre of the brown folded board.

2)  With the tan strip of paper, stamp the ornate border in brownand allow to dry. When dry, stick the tan strip onto the slightly bigger brown paper.

3)  Stamp in brown ink two thirds of the sentiment onto the cream circle. Stamp the same two thirds onto a spare piece of paper, and carefully cut around the right side of the image to create a mask.  With your mask in place, stamp the butterflies in gold ink to the right of the sentiment towards the edge of the circle.

4)  Stamp the last two lines "Love beyond words" onto the bottom right corner of the cream card.

5)  When all inked images are dry, stick the tan and brown strip onto the cream card, above the sentiment. Stick the cream circle centre aligned onto the brown scalloped lace circle and then stick it to the card, left aligned.

Voila - Card is finished!

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card for the Through the Purple Haze Challenges. Why not pop over and enter the Indigo Blu challenge for this week? If you don't have any Indigo Blu stamps, you can purchase them here or you can take part in the alternative challenge this week - "Anything Goes".

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Have a great day,

Anything Goes Challenge at Through the Purple Haze Challenges

Hello fellow bloggers :)

Hope you are having a great day. I recently had the privilege of meeting up with a crafty friend. I had tried several times to visit, but it just never worked out. On my way home I was buzzing with all the ideas I hope to work on - the inspiration I came away with that day was incredible. Being able to talk through and share ideas was such an uplifting and inspiring time, I can't wait to go back on another visit.
This week at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, there is an Indigo Blu challenge, and an Anything Goes sponsored by Joanna Sheen.

Having come back recently from holidays, and having seen my friends beautiful scrapbooked pages, I was determined to start scrapbooking my memories. So this weeks alternative challenge at Through the Purple Haze Challenges of Anything Goes, couldn't have been a better week to start! Here's what I started with:

A Zutter Cover All 8x8 Flat Spine White

Some strips of coordinating paper, and some white paper with a border punched out.

This is it all stuck down.
Some embellishments and die cut numbers.

One of these beautiful papers had a large image of the ice-cream in the corner. I cut it out and layered it with some cerise pink cardboard.

I cut out part of a photo from our holidays and punched a slightly larger blue card with the beautiful Martha Stewart corner punch.

I stuck the layered paper onto the cover, and stuck on the layered ice-cream.

I then stuck on some letters to spell "summer" and "2013". I also put some washi tape down where I would put the photo, just to make it interesting! ;-)

Here it is with the layered photo in place:

I found some lovely embellishments that tied in well with the colours. Whatever colour I needed for an embellishment, if I did not have something suitable, I just punched out a flower in the same card as the letters.

Finished product:

So why not pop over and check out the blog "Through the Purple Haze Challenges", the first two challenges go live today 15th July at 10am GMT. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs - for the Anything Goes the prize is some lovely Joanna Sheen goodies, and the prize for the Indigo Blu challenge (you can see my entry here) is an Indigo Blue prize.
Well worth a check!
