Derwent Challenge

Good morning, and Happy Monday :) Hope you had a wonderful weekend and your Monday has started off well :) This week over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, the theme is Pencil colored or drawn image. We are sponsored by Derwent

Unfortunately for the past week, my two little ladies, husband and I have been terribly sick. While I was 'resting', my mind was going overboard thinking about scrapbooking and updating my photo albums and scrapbooks. So for this challenge, I decided to create some journal cards -

These are two cards, that started out blank. I stamped on the left 'you are my' and wrote sunshine. With some pencils (my supplies were very primitive this week - I had to raid the children's colouring stash to fulfill the theme!!! ;)

I was using chubby colouring pencils, so delicate colouring/drawing was limited!!) I then used some washi tape and a wooden heart for some dimension.

The second journal card, on the right, I stamped twice on top 'noteworthy' and then put a jewel in between. This was a quote from my eldest girl after her baby sister was born!
Here are some photos of the whole display, including another journal card I drew.

Here is the layout with journal cards and photos. (excuse the glare on the top left pocket. Our days are so dark lately, that photography is proving a little difficult!! ;)  )

I got a helping hand for putting everything back into the folder! ;)

Of course, despite having a room full of toys, anything I am doing is ALWAYS way more exciting!!!! ;)

My eldest having thoroughly enjoyed looking back at all the photos, is now "helping" to display the page for photographing!!!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed my journal page, and why not head over to join in the challenge?

I hope to enter a few challenges.

Have a great Monday,
Eithne :)

Craft for the Craic #1

Hello again,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend :)
Here is a step by step of the card I made for the first challenge on the new challenge blog I started, Craft for the Craic. Have a look at Michelle's beautiful projects and why not take part?!

This is the card I made, it's an A5 landscape card. First I used some distress ink and a mask to do the dots on the background.

With a heart doily I inked the edges with the same ink. Using my nested dies, I cut out the largest heart shape and a smaller one within the large heart. Roughened the edge of the heart with a broken scissor (very advanced tools I use :D ) and then inked the edges with the same distress ink as per the background and doily.

I also die cut out the doily from a different paper pad that had complementary shades.

I got these beautiful wooden words as a Christmas present, and couldn't wait to use them on a project! It worked really well with the colours and shades of this card.

I am a huge fan of washi tape. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! This is a roll I got to push myself out of my usual colour comfort zone. The shades of peachy/pink and light teal are not a colour combo I would use often, if ever, so it was a great way to adventure with it. I cut the arrow edge on it, and did the inverse of it on the top left hand corner (photo below)

I couldn't make a card without some buttons, so I glued some in the middle of the die cut heart. I remember years ago some bride-to-be informed me that, anything wedding wise/love should have three - it represents three words 'I love you'. But alas, I am not that romantically-inclined and just felt the uneven number suited the look of the card!! :D

Thanks for stopping by, and would love you to join in the challenge.

Have a wonderful, crafty day :D

Whoopsie Daisy Challenge

Hello, and happy Monday! Hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend.

Today I am showing a card I made for Through the Purple Haze Challenges. This weeks challenge is Anything Goes, with a generous prize of $12 worth of digi's from Whoopsie Daisy digis.

Here is the card I made, with the pre-coloured digi:

I punched the edge of some maroon card and embossed some black card.

I drew some faux stitches around the image.

For the greeting, I stamped and cut out the frame and layered it with some black card.
It is very hard to see the gold sheen off the ink, but it gives such a lovely affect.

Thanks for stopping by, why not take part in the challenge?
I hope to enter this card in a few challenges.
Hope you have a happy and crafty Monday!

Craft for the Craic!

Hello and welcome :)

Hope you are enjoying the weekend, despite the crazy weather. We are having a bit of a lull, so it's not as blustery as it has been :)

I have some wonderful news to share - I have started up a challenge blog with the good help from my dear friend Michelle. It is called "Craft for the Craic" (Irish for fun).

It is a monthly, for the craic, challenge that incorporates all things crafty and arty- cardmaking, scrapbooking, altered art, sewing, knitting, crochet, painting, baking. The list goes on :)

This month I created a card -

The theme is to include a heart on the project.

This card I will use for my darling beloved next weekend :) :) Both of us will be shocked that I'm not making a card the morning of Valentines!! Perhaps I am eventually getting organised? hmmmm....

Anyway, please check out Michelle's wonderful creations and we would love to see your creations in the challenge.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Anything goes/Valentines/Love - Cratitude
Valentines Day - Cut it Up
Be my Valentine - Fussy and Fancy

Thanks for stopping by,
Eithne :)
