Halloween at TTPHC

Hello and welcome. Hope you are enjoying your Monday :)

Today over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, it is team B's turn to wow you. We are sponsored this week by Simply Betty.

The theme is Halloween. The winner will get three of the digi's that we the DT got to use. Go on and give it a go!! ;-)

This week I did a layout, for a change! This is 8x8" sheet of black board.

I painted the image (Evil Queen Rio) in with watercolour paints and stuck her onto a 6x6 paper. The backing paper has 'Memories' printed out on it, and I thought it was pretty apt, as the photo brings back great memories!

I got a strip of purple paper and stenciled some dots onto the paper. I then got some purple net and gathered it with some ribbon and stuck some brads through it, to ensure it wouldn't budge.

I used my Garden Trelis frame die to create this frame for my photo. This is a photo of my eldest girl Sarah when she was 3, loads of memories flood back when I see the photo of the cheeky grin at me! Not to mention how obvious it is to see how alike she and her younger sister are! (I can never see the sister resemblances!!!) I then sprayed it with some spray paint. With the square gone from the frame, I used the card to cut out the letters 'Trick".

I cut out the letters in two different fonts to read 'trick' and 'treat'. I combined all letters and embellishments to give a Halloween feel to the layout.

Sketch Challenge at Eclectic Ellapu

This week over at Eclectic Ellapu we have a sketch challenge.

I have to warn you all, this post is going to be photo heavy and very little text. It's my birthday weekend, and I am relaxing for a change!! ;-)

So here is my card, why not take part in the challenge?

Sorry for the bad lighting, I'm going to have to stockpile all "photo shoots" for the bright days, to get the best shots!! ;-)
This card was made with a combo of Oriental kits, which I received from a very kind friend. I have been trying to find something to make so I could use the papers, so I was delighted I got to 'play' with these!! :)

Thanks for stopping by, and hope you have a great day!

Bling it Up!

Hello, happy Monday to you :) Hope you had a wonderful weekend and your Monday starts the week well. We had a very wet, cold and windy weekend, time to light the stoves again!

This week over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, the challenge is 'Bling it Up' sponsored by My Mums Craft Shop
This is the card I made for the challenge -

I am not really a girl of bling, but I managed to root out a bit!! I cut some different size strips of 'baby patterned paper' and stuck it down to the card. I left a gap large enough to fit the circle.

I added a cute little bib to the circle, stamped 'welcome' and added a bit of bling. I did some faux stitches around the edge of the circle.

I cut out the baby girls name with some adhesive felt, and stuck it down to a pink strip of card. I then added two flower embellishments for a bit more bling. Behind this pink strip of card, I border punched some vellum paper. I think this gives such a beautiful discreet affect, without it being too obvious.
I stuck the circle die cut down with some foam pads, just to give some depth.

Why not enter the challenge this week? Root out some bling from your stash, and give it a go! A great prize up for grabs :)

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to enter this card into the following challenges.

All you Need is Love :)

This week over at Eclectic Ellapu, the challenge is "Inspired by a Song". I chose 'All you Need is Love" by the Beatles, can you see the title in the tag on the right hand side? When I was about 12 I discovered The Beatles. My Dad had some old LP's and my cousin copied them onto cassettes. I also had the score for 'Abbey Road', and being fascinated by how the music was written, I used to listen to the music while looking at the score. Oooh goodness, what that started was a mega, mega, mega love of the Beatles music.

Unfortunately/fortunately ALL of my family also had to endure my love of their songs, so all five younger siblings and my parents got to know EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. from all the albums :) What a great attribute, right? I educated them and bombarded them with the Beatles at every possible occasion - I sang the songs and played along on piano or guitar, I listened in the car to the music, I watched all the Beatle movies, I read any book or magazine I could find on them. I truly became obsessed with The Beatles. Thankfully, a few years after I discovered the Beatles they came back in vogue, and the whole world (well almost) went a little Beatle mad again :) :) :)

Whilst on holidays a year ago, I came upon a stamp set 'Love Love Love' and with 'All You Need is Love' in a gigantic craft shop. I could not pass it. Then a while back I registered for a challenge through Crafting Ireland in conjunction with Daintree Wedding Hub. It was to create a wedding project. When I got more details regarding the challenge, I soon found out I needed to heavily base my project on some papers and ribbon I received from Daintree Wedding Hub. I received beautiful handmade papers, and three different ribbons, all in a brown/copper/cream tones. I decided to make something for myself, rather than a gift for someone. This is the photo from my wedding day, over 6 years ago! My how time flies!! ;-)

The tag - the song inspiration for my frame.

I die cut a circle frame from the kraft paper and embossed it. To highlight the embossing I inked it up a little.

A canvas flower cut out that I inked up to colour it, and used some skeleton leaves, and ribbon flowers to add a few layers.

In the sunlight you can see the glitter and highlights on the paper.

Thanks for stopping by today. Why not pop over and take part in the challenge?
I would like to enter these challenges:

Have a wonderful day :)

Sketch challenge

This week over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, the challenge is a sketch.
Sketches can be a love/hate relationship with me sometimes!! But once I saw this one, I knew I would love it. As you might have noticed I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 'scalloped circle lace die', and thought it would fit right in with the circle. I also have a tendency to do banner style designs with washi tape, and let me tell you, this week was no different!! ;-)
This week it is Team A vs Team B, our monthly inter team challenge. So please, do pop over and vote for your favourite. The sponsors this week are Penny Black

and Stitchy Bear.

As it happened, this weekend was a crazy one for us! My youngest brother James, had his 21st birthday party, so I decided to make a card, following the sketch for him:

I used a brown board for the back, and used my *favourite* die, (any guesses??!!) "Scalloped lace circle die', using some green paper I recently bought (his favourite colour is green) As per usual, I have no embellishments that suit a card for a male, so I had to dig deep!!

I used a kraft tag, and cut out a slightly smaller size cream piece of card and embossed it, using my Happy Birthday folder. I then lightly smudged some blue and green ink over the raised letters to highlight them. I cut out the two digits out of glitter foam.
With the twine, I threaded some alphabet beads spelling out 'JAMES'. I attached some honeycomb greyboard that I inked in brown (really need to get some more of this honeycomb!!) and attached it with two pegs. I used some washi tape, and cut it to give the bunting look, to tie in with the sketch.

I cut some cream card, and used a ribbon punch to punch out the slots, and then threaded some music printed paper through (James is a drummer and loves music). I used a combo of buttons and flat backed pearls around the scalloped die. I took the printed sentiment from a lovely scrapbook kit that I recently bought second hand.

Thanks for stopping by, and hope you are having a wonderful Monday! Why not give the challenge a go?

New Challenge at Eclectic Ellapu

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are having a lovely weekend, wherever you are.

This week over at Eclectic Ellapu, the new challenge is 'It's Sentimental', with the main focus being on the sentiment.

This is the card I made:

I used some beautiful Japanese inspired papers, they are so lovely, very iridescent and shimmery.

I used a tag, and layered it behind and on top with the sentiment. I used the wonderful Indigo Blu stamp range, and stamped the sentiment onto some cream torn paper in brown ink.

I used this beautiful butterfly charm, attached it through the twine on the butterfly, and used a sticker for the roses. The edging I found at the bottom of a paper pack, thought it looked nice and also added a bit of texture to the card!
These flat back pearls (? I'm not sure if that is what they're called!) just finished off the corner.
Hope you like the card, why not give the challenge a go?

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
2 Sisters - Sketch
A Gem of a Challenge - Use two backing papers
Simply Less is More - Use a Rubber stamp
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes (closed)

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful day :)
