Die-ing for Spring challenge CFTC

Hello :) I am still here, and only now getting back to blogging! I've been blogging over on my challenge blog, Craft for the Craic. Been a crazy few months, but now hopefully things are calming down.

Over at Craft for the Craic this month, the challenge is "Die-ing for Spring or an Easter theme". Here is the card I made for the challenge:

I used a Bigz lace die, a tag die and the Happy Birthday tag die. I also used a doily lace cut out in lime green, in the background.
Also used some vellum, and stamped the music notes onto it, and used the music washi tape. (Every project seems to need washi tape ;) )
I cut out the age, 11,  with some glitter foam and used a butterfly charm tied on with bakers twine. I also used some green thread to add some texture by sewing.

Layering some flowers, and using a gem as the centre piece really makes it pop! The cerise pink paper in the background was embossed and torn to create a non uniform backdrop.

Of course I couldn't resist adding some embellishments and buttons for a bit of dimension!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday, and thanks so much for popping by. If you are doing some crafting and it meets the challenge theme, why not give it a go?

Happy Crafty Friday!

Anything Goes over at TTPHC

Hello! A very happy morning to you :) This week over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges we have a new challenge - Anything Goes Opt For A Male. We are very kindly sponsored by Sassy Studio

This week I decided to go with the Anything Goes, as I have no men in my life who need a card, and I didn't want this lovely lady to sit on the shelf of my room, waiting to be used ;)

I made a card for a friend who is making a few changes in her life at the minute. I always feel you have to follow your dreams and be true to yourself for genuine happiness. Wishing her the best in her decisions she is facing :)

I used the Cat Woman Sassy image. I have noticed a lot of watercolour effect cards lately, so decided to play on the idea of dreams and watercolour - giving the undefined colour like the way a dream is.
I used some old pencils to colour her in.

I did some faux stitches around the patchwork effect card.
I made some paper flowers and used some twine to tie in the stamped torn sentiment with the flowers on it.
Thanks for stopping over, why not pop over and see my Through the Purple Haze Challenges teamies designs?
I hope to enter a few challenges. Why not give this challenge a go?

Hope you have a great Monday.

Cards with Tickets or Tags

Hello,
Hope you are having a lovely weekend. Here in Ireland, it is our August Bank Holiday. I'm afraid it is a very, very wet one! Thunderous downpours and floods :( Thankfully it's great weather for crafting ;-)
This week, Team A at Through the Purple Haze Challenges, have a challenge of "cards with tickets or tags". Our wonderful sponsor, Craft Sentiments Designs are giving three digi's for the winner's prize.

This is the card I made with the beautiful digi, Kaye, Thinking of You.

Please don't laugh, but this is actually my FIRST digi image to use, EVER!!! I was so nervous working with her, as I never painted or coloured skin tones before. I don't even have any markers that would do her skin tone justice. So I semi-cheated! I printed her out onto cream paper, to resemble my own skin colour. (if only my complexion was as even as a cream sheet of paper!!)

I coloured her waist sash and trimmings in a teal blue marker, and paper pieced her dress and hair. (another technique I am new to) It was so rewarding putting her together, and I just love how the printed paper of her dress make it pop out! As she was on cream paper, I needed to isolate her entirely from the cream sheet of paper. So I cut her out and stuck her on the circular frame, on top of a doily.

For the ticket, I used a beautiful "a Birthday Wish' tag, printed onto the same colour paper as Kaye's hair. I then got a few teal strips of paper, and stuck them onto the yellow polka dot paper for the background. I cut out two of the 'styled labels', inked the back one with distress ink, and frayed the top layer.
I used a few paper flowers, and stuck some buttons or gems in the middle. I also spotted a few flower gems around the card and a button.

Being it my first digi image, I am delighted with how the card turned out. I love the combo of colours, although it wouldn't be my usual choice.

I hope to enter this card in a few challenges.
