21st Album inserts

Hello :D Hope you are having a great day. Today we had a really wild, windy, wet day, I'm really looking forward to Spring!

As mentioned in the previous post, here are some more photos of the album I made at Christmas.

The Cover

The first page, a spot for a photo from birth! I used my Big Shot to cut out the numbers and also to emboss the background strip.

The second page I used as a title page for the 5 photo insert pages to follow, one pocket for each birthday over the past 20 years. I did a combination of stamping, layering and stickers to decorate.

The page that follows is for a photo from the 21st party. Again, I used a corner punch to create a pocket for putting photos in. I also embossed a strip and again used the Big Shot for cutting out the numbers for the year.

I created a pocket sheet so an invitation keepsake could be kept safe.

I created another pocket sheet, so that anymore keepsakes could be saved. I did a combo of dry embossing and heat embossing for decorating. On the pocket flap, I used a ribbon  punch and threaded a ribbon through.

For the last decorated page, I again used it as a title page for the couple of photo insert sheets at the end. I used layering, embossing, embellishments and outline stickers.

I then used a Bind-it-All to bind it and I stuck it into the Cover All. This was my first scrap album to create using a Cover All, and I learned a few lessons along the way, the one that sticks out the most, I'm going to share. I used very thick board for the single sheets (approx. 300gm) and a lighter board (220gm) for the pockets. This allowed for a very sturdy sheet, but a little bit more difficulty when punching on the Bind-it-All. I added thick stickers too close to the bound edge, so when punching the sheet I had to remove them. This is something I will remember in future, as I had to replace a few stickers as I tore them taking them off.

21st Album - 8 x 8 bamboo album

Hello. Thank you for stopping by :) Today I am showing you the cover of an album I made. This is the second album I have ever made, so everything is still new to me!! It was for a friend for her 21st. I used an 8 x 8 black Bamboo Cover-it-all.

I die cut a large pink scalloped oval. Using a beautiful Japanese influenced rubber stamp, I stamped it in black. I had to keep repeating the image as the stamp was not large enough for the oval. I also had to finish off some of the design by hand, as I didn't always stamp it evenly! Oops!

To tie in with the stamped flower image, I used an outline sticker of the same image for the next layer. This was placed onto the purple card. It is a beautiful, beautiful image of the flowers, but a total pain to take out all the negative part of the stickers! It ended up being very delicate, and despite taking nearly 40 minutes of picking out the negative of the stickers, I think it is truly worth it!

I cut a strip of lime green card and embossed it with the smaller honeycomb folder from Cuttlebug. Arranging it at a diagonal, I always feel gives it a bit of character! I stuck some flower embellishments on, and used some brads for the metal flowers.

I used a Tim Holtz die, styled labels to cut out the centre white piece, and embossed it with the honeycomb embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I then punched two holes on each side, laced some ribbon through, and inked the edges. I stamped on "st" in silver, and wrote "my". I die cut the numbers 21 from glittery purple foam and stuck them on. I used foam pads for the whole label, to give it a bit of depth.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this second album. This is only the cover, but hopefully in the next few days I will get showing the rest of the album.

Christening Card

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. Goodness, has it been that long since I was blogging? Ooops! I've been so busy doing stuff that I haven't had time to talk about it! A good complaint for sure :D

Here's an A5 card I made a while ago for my nephew's Christening.

 I die cut the centre piece, then inked the edges. I created the "Christening" paper from some wrapping paper, as I had nothing with any Christening connection on it.

 

To add a bit of interest, I used a printed vellum at the back of the banner with Darragh's name on it.
I added a button and some ribbon to three hearts, and used a "Congrats" sticker.

All You Need is Love

My good friend got married in August, and I made this card for the happy couple.

For something different, I decided to do a four panel card. The first panel I die cut out a scalloped square, and embossed a section of the front.

The second panel, I covered the background, and added a little sentiment. I got a stamp awhile back with "All You Need is Love!" As I am a HUGE Beatles fan, (and while in school I made everyone else listen to them as well, so all my friends had no option but to like them also!)

This is the embellishment I made with a few die cuts, flowers and a button. I also stamped another sentiment on, "love love love". On to some vellum I stamped silver flowers and put them onto a grey scalloped strip for behind the embellishment.

This second element I made again, from die cuts, printed vellum paper, and leaves. Again, I stamped the words "love love love". (carrying on from the song!) I covered this panel with a similar coloured paper to the first panel. Rather than a scalloped square, I cut out a plain square.

 This is at the back of the card, but when the card is closed you see it. I added some gems to break the plain look!

This is the view looking down on the card when it is standing up.

The "love love love" here is printed in silver ink onto plain vellum. When the card is closed it can be seen through the different size cut outs. I used two brads to hold the vellum in place, and knotted ribbon through also.

 

This is the last side of the card. I used printed vellum, iridescent card, flowers, gems, beads etc.

Card with freebie papers!

I LOVE to buy crafting magazines! I especially *love* when there are free gifts!! This card was made with one of the free gifts from a magazine a while back.

I used a Kraft card blank, and tore (*gasp*) the printed freebie paper at the side and stuck it to a similar coloured solid piece of cardboard. I used another printed freebie paper for the right side, and then cut a frame with my cricut. Using a gold pen I "stitched" the edge of the frame. I punched holes each side of the frame and threaded a ribbon through. I have only recently started using buttons on cards, and I love them! I used a button also for the centre of the flower.

For the sentiment I used some stickers on a piece of card. The colour of the card was too bright, so I used some brown watercolour paint to grubby it up!

My camera work still needs perfecting, it didn't focus correctly on the sentiment!

I used foam pads to lift the greeting off the card a bit!

Today I made a card for my friend. Although, it's the longest day of the year, in Ireland today, it feels like the shortest day! It hasn't stopped raining for very long, nor is it very bright :( But maybe it might pick up for later?!

I found these beautiful felt flowers on a recent sort out (one of many sort outs!) They are about 2-3mm thick, so they add a lovely depth dimension to any project. For a bit of diversity, I added a button on one flower as the centre, instead of the felt. The Autumnal colours just lent themselves to the cream base card. AGAIN, I couldn't resist the desire to emboss something! With the general layout decided on in my head, I knew that any of the side borders/ribbons wouldn't have enough space to show the embossing.

For a variety in the feel of the card, I chose a ribbon and paper border. The ribbon came from my sister in Germany (Thanks Liv :D )  and the paper came from a pad of marbled paper I bought a few years ago. All the colours gelled so well together.

For the message, I used my stamped the message, "thanks a bunch!" with an embossing stamp pad, and then used the gold embossing powder I have. Using my heat gun to heat it up, it gave the message a beautiful glitter to it.

I used foam pads to stick on the message to add extra 3D affect.

This is how the card turned out finished. I love the colours and the dual types of embossing.
